Isom Global Strategies has been chosen as a finalist in the 47th Annual Thoth Awards competition for its demonstration of excellence and creativity in public relations. The nomination recognizes IGS’ work supporting Marine Week Seattle 2014 on behalf of the U.S. Marine Corps. Marine Week is the Corps’ largest community relations initiative.
Named after the Egyptian god of communications, the Thoth Awards (pronounced “tot”) honors the most outstanding public relations programs, products, and initiatives developed in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Entries are reviewed by the Public Relation Society of America’s National Capital Chapter (PRSA-NCC), with nominees dispersed among 35 categories. Marine Week Seattle will be competing as part of the Community Relations category.
In June, PRSA awarded IGS the Award of Excellence for the same work at the Silver Anvil Awards Ceremony in New York City.
“We are beyond thrilled to have our work recurrently recognized by PRSA,” President and CEO Towan Isom said. “As a small business, IGS is always proving its capabilities alongside bigger names. This is a testament to our steadfast commitment to innovation, service, and excellence. We are just as capable of producing high-quality and award-winning work, regardless of company size.”
The U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) selected IGS to plan and execute 2014 Marine Week Seattle in an effort to increase awareness and knowledge of the Marine Corps in the Pacific Northwest region. Through an integrated communications approach encompassing research, strategy development, media relations and community events, Marine Week positively influenced perception of the service, which was shown through pre- and post-event research and data.
IGS also facilitated strong partnerships with local government leaders, sports teams and community-based organizations, further educating target audiences on the Corps’ missions and capabilities.
“The nomination and the knowledge we made a difference in how our nation’s citizens perceive the Marine Corps are equally rewarding,” Ms. Isom said. “PRSA’s recognition is not only of the IGS team, but the thousands of Marines that made Marine Week possible through their service and support.”
The PRSA Thoth Awards Gala will take place September 16 at the National Press Club, in Washington, D.C. The gala will also feature special inductions of D.C.-based public relations professionals into the National Capital Public Relations Hall of Fame.
